TOURISM
Tourism is the generic term to cover both demand and supply that has been adopted in various forms and used throughout the World.  Tourism is defined as the activities of persons identified as visitors.  A visitor is someone who is making a visit to a main destination outside his/her usual environment for less than a year for any main purpose [including] holidays, leisure and recreation, business, health, education or other purposes….This scope is much wider than the traditional perception of tourists, which included only those travelling for leisure. [UNWTO statistics Guidelines: 2010]

TYPE OF TOURISM
Depends on the reason for travel. 
Travel can be to destinations that are domestic or international.
Domestic tourism involves residents travelling only within their country.
Inbound and Outbound tourism both describe types of international tourism. Inbound tourism involves non-residents travelling within a country.
Outbound tourism involves residents travelling within another country.

TYPE OF TOURIST

  • Incentive tourists: Incentives tourists are those company outstanding individuals, who get a holiday package as a reward from his company, for good key results or achieving targets, set by the company. A salesman who is awarded with a nice holiday package for reaching the target sales is a perfect example of incentive tourist. 
  • Health or medical tourist: Those who seek special medical treatment/recovery which is only possible away from home, make trips to other places and are called Health or medical tourist. Some of these tourists avail medical assistance in other countries, due to costs. They also make trips simply to stay for few days in healthier climate. 
  • Business tourist: Tourist traveling with relation to business is classified as business tourist. Business tourism is part of the business world. Most of the cities especially in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, feature conference centres that cater to the needs of business tourists. A business tourist makes trips to different places to attend trade shows, to display and promote his own products also. 
  • Education tourists: Tourists traveling to a particular place in another town, city or country for seminars or further study in order to improve his or her educational qualification are termed as education tourist. 
  • Adventure tourists: Adventure tourists look for some mind blowing experience so as to rejuvenate themselves. They seek adventurous activities that may be dangerous, such as rock climbing, river rafting and bungee jumping. 
  • Cultural tourist: These types of tourists travel to experience the essence of assorted cultures, such as Victoria Falls New Carnival, San rock art, World Heritage Sites of Dr David Livingstone and The Might Victoria Falls. 
  • Eco-tourists: Nature loving tourists, who love to go green like traveling to National Parks eg Chobe National Parks. They travel throughout the world in search of destinations not affected by pollution or much human intervention. 
  • Leisure tourist: These tourists want to rejuvenate and revitalize with comfort, while enjoying a break from busy schedule attention detail routine of life. Examples of this type of tourism are cruising while vacationing or simple relaxing in wilderness camp. 
  • Religious tourist: Religious tourist travel to sites of religious locations or crusades. 
  • Sport and recreation tourist: These sorts of tourists either take active part in or just watch sports events in a welcoming environment. 
  • Backpacking or youth tourist: This group of tourist is of young age and they travel with minimum luggage and on a limited budget. But they are very passionate and love excitements and adventures, while traveling. They generally have no specific travel schedules and tend to travel independently. 
  • Free Independent Tourist (FIT) or Special Interest Tourist (STI): They nurture particular passion in different things like game watching, bird watching, nature, fishing, food & wine.

KINDS OF TOURISM OBJECTS IN LOMBOK
1. GILI










“Gili” means “island.” There are 3 famous Gili in Lombok, they are Gili Air, Gili Meno, and Gili Trawangan. Actually, the Gili of Lombok are not only those 3, there are other small gili/islands around Lombok. However, these 3 islands are the most famous so far. Almost everyday, these gili are filled with tourist, both local and international. These gili are always busy welcoming their visitors.
There is a unique slogan amongs the visitors of 3 gili, “3NP” or “No Polution, No Police, and No Policy.” In gili, motor vehicles are not allowed to keep the freshness of air around the islands. The only vehicles available there are non-pollution vehicles, such as bicycle and cidomo (horse-drawn carriage).
The length of travel to access these islands is about 15 minutes from Senggigi Beach. After that, boat is used to cross over to the Gili 
2. PANTAI KUTA










This is not the famous Kuta Beach in the shore of Bali Island. Shared a name with a famous beach, this beach is also located in the same region called Kuta. Same with the another Kuta, this beach also offers a beautiful beach panorama with its scorching sun and white sands. Once in a year, the lucky visitors could see the procession of Sasak called Bau Nyale. In this ceremony, the fishermen race to get Nyale worm in the sea.
According to the legends, there was once a princess named Princess Mandalika. Because of her enormous beauty, so many princes and men fell in love with her and marry her. In the end, Mandalika could not make her decision so she committed suicide jumping to the ocean. She promised that once in a year she would come back. So, it is believed that her long hair transform to the Nyale worms. Kuta Beach is going to be a new icon of Lombok’s tourism sector. The massive development of the beach surrounding area is also going to assist this beach’s development as a tourist attraction.
3. SEGARA ANAK LAKE










Lombok is famous for its quiet, peaceful, and natural beach. However, aside from the beaches, Lombok also has other favorite tourism objects which are also worthy to visit. One of those tourism objects is Segara Anak Lake. Segara Anak is a lake located in Rinjani Mountain caldera about 3775 meter above sea level (masl). The view of this lake is amazing with its natural ambience thus so many tourists come and do mountain climbing to see it directly.
